Greetings TSES Families,
It was great seeing everyone at Reading Night. I hope you had as much fun as we did! We have another family event next week, and this time we are joining forces with our wonderful PTA! We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday (3/24) evening for our Family School Partnerships meeting following by the PTA sponsored bingo night! Starting at 6pm, we will have a fun filled night with dinner, bingo, and prizes! Check out the flier for details.
We’ve made it to the week before Spring Break! To celebrate, the students voted on spirit days for each day during the week leading up to Spring Break. Our year to date attendance rate is 94.1%, and we would love to see our students at school next week for spirit week! Monday, 3/23- Favorite Color Day -Dress in your favorite color.
Tuesday 3/24- Pajama Day Wear your PJs or comfy clothes to school. Don’t forget your sneakers if you have PE!
Wednesday 3/25- Anything But a Pencil Day-Bring your favorite writing tool to use at school (ex. Crayon, pen, marker)
Thursday 3/26- Vacation Day - Wear Hawaiian shirts or beachy clothes and/or sunglasses
Friday 3/27- Sports Day-Wear your favorite team’s attire, colors or sporty clothes
For our student celebration this week, we are celebrating Maya Blackman. Maya is a 5th grader and has been recognized as a returning 2026 Carson Scholar! Congratulations, Maya!! We are so proud of you!
Thirty-one Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) students have been recognized as 2026 Carson Scholars for demonstrating outstanding commitment to academics, leadership and serving others. The HCPSS honorees include 12 first-time Carson Scholars and 19 Recognized (returning) Scholars.
Established in 1994, the Carson Scholars program recognizes and rewards students in grades 4-11 in the United States who strive for academic excellence (3.75 GPA or higher) and demonstrate a strong commitment to their community.
First-time Scholars receive a monetary college scholarship. Recognized Carson Scholars have previously been awarded a Carson scholarship, maintained high academic standards, and continued to show strong commitment to their communities.

TSES Families! Our favorite day of the year is almost here! Field Day is happening on 4/24 (rain date 5/26), and we need your energy to make it a win for the kids. Whether you're running a water station or cheering at the finish line, your help makes this day possible. Here's the volunteer form !

On May 5 & 6, 2026, Talbott Springs ES will hold an in-school dental clinic provided by the MD Smiles Program. Biz Kidz Academy Celebrate Your Talents!
This engaging opportunity invites students ages 8–14 to submit a short essay or video showcasing a creative talent or business idea, or to participate as vendor exhibitors to pitch and sell their products and services. Participants can win prizes such as laptops, gift cards, art supplies, and trophies; entries and registrations are due by March 31, with an awards ceremony on April 25. See this flyer for details.
TSES PreSchool
Will your child be 3 years old by September 1, 2026? If so, we'd love to have your child as part of our LTP program.
The PreSchool classes are 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:35-11:15AM.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Registration for new students or students entering public school kindergarten in fall 2026 begins TODAY March 2, 2026.
- Kindergarten is mandatory in Maryland. State law requires that children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2026 must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2026.
- Children entering first grade in the fall of 2026 must be 6 years old on or before September 1, 2026.
