Talbott Springs Elementary School
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Dear TSES Families,
We had a wonderful Open House today and were able to greet so many of our new and returning students. We are ready to welcome back our Kindergarten - 5th graders on Monday, August 25! We are also looking forward to welcoming back our pre-school and pre-kindergarten students on Thursday, August 28.
Thank you to our PTA for welcoming back our teachers with a luncheon and welcoming back our students and families with a fabulous back to school photo backdrop!
Visit our website for our school supplies list and other important information.
Please make sure you complete your Family File. We are currently at 50% completion and would like to be at 100% completion by the first day of school. Please also take a moment to complete the Free and Reduced Meals (FARMs) application. This application must be completed each year. If you need support for completing forms, please call our Front Office at 410-313-6915. Thank you for your help!
Please see below for our arrival and dismissal procedures to help ensure student safety. We need everyone to follow the procedures so that we have a safe and smooth arrival and dismissal. We appreciate your support and patience.
Arrival
- Upon arrival, all students will line up on the blacktop by grade level and will be escorted into the building by staff members at 8:30.
- Students should not arrive prior to 8:25, as supervision will not be available.
- Please do not allow your child(ren) to play on the playground equipment between 8:00am-8:30am. This is considered school hours and therefore the playground is not available for community use.
- Staff will be available outside to assist students into the building until 8:45. Students arriving after 8:45 should enter the building via the front entrance of the school.
- The instructional day begins at 8:45.
- Students will be considered tardy at 8:46.
- Visitors will not be allowed in the building during arrival.
- Please do not drop off and/or pick up your students on the private road in the Holly Court townhouse community. This is not a public road, and the community has expressed concerns with using it for school traffic.
Car loop
- Cars will enter the car loop from Whiteacre Road.
- Parents should not let students out of the car until they reach the landing zone where TSES Staff will be available to help.
- Students should exit the car on the right passenger side.
- Please remain in your car at all times and do not bypass other cars in the line. Exiting the car can create unsafe conditions for everyone.
- If you would like to walk your child to the blacktop, please park your car in the TSES parking lot and accompany your child to the blacktop. Do not park in the car loop or bus loop and leave your car unattended.
Walkers
- Upon arrival, students will report to the blacktop where they will be greeted by TSES Staff starting at 8:25.
- Students will enter the building at 8:30.
- Please be aware that we have two crossing guards posted at the following locations: Whiteacre Road @ Thunderhill Road and Whiteacre Road @ the school. The crossing guards are available 8:15am-8:45 am & 3:10pm-3:40pm.
Bus Riders
- Please visit the online bus stop locator to find your child's bus number and pick up/drop off time(s).
- If your child has their ZUM swipe card and lanyard from last year, please send it to the bus stop/school with them. If the swipe card is lost, students will still be allowed to ride the bus to and from school. We will request new cards for students, if needed. Kindergarten students will receive their swipe cards and lanyards a few weeks after the start of the school year once they have acclimated to the bus routine.
- Use the ZUM app to track your child’s bus.
- We encourage families and students to arrive at the bus stop 5-10 minutes before the pick up time during the first week.
- Please remind your child(ren) about safe behavior on the bus - stay in your seat, keep your voice at an appropriate volume, and always listen to the directions of the bus driver. Thank you for your support!
Dismissal
- Dismissal procedures will begin at approximately 3:10.
- Please be aware that there are “No Parking” signs on Whiteacre Road.
- If your child will have an early dismissal, please pick up your child by 2:45.
- If there will be a change in transportation during the first week of school, please try your best to notify the front office no later than 12pm.
Car loop
- Cars will enter the car loop from Whiteacre Road.
- TSES Staff will wait with car riders inside the school. TSES Staff will direct students to the appropriate car.
- Students will enter the car using the right passenger side.
- Please remain in your car at all times and do not bypass other cars in the line. Exiting the car can create unsafe conditions for everyone.
- Please do not drop off and pick up your students on the private road in the Holly Court townhouse community. This is not a public road, and the community has expressed concerns with using it for school traffic.
Walkers
- TSES Staff will escort walkers to the blacktop.
- Walkers can be met on the blacktop at dismissal.
- Parents/Guardians, please stand behind the cones on the blacktop. We need to keep the exit doors and sidewalks clear for students and staff to exit the building.
- If an older sibling will be picking up your child, please speak with them about refraining from engaging in horseplay, using profane language, and/or using the playground equipment. TSES staff are outside to supervise our students and will alert TSES administration if middle school and/or high school students cannot follow our expectations. A phone call will be made to the parent to find an alternate arrangement for pick up. Thank you for your help.
- Please be aware that we have two crossing guards posted at the following locations: Whiteacre Road @ Thunderhill Road and Whiteacre Road @ the school. The crossing guards are available 8:15am-8:45 am & 3:10pm-3:40pm.
Bus Riders
- During the first week or two of school, it takes a little longer for us to have students board their correct bus. Thank you for your patience!
- Use the ZUM app to track your child’s bus.
- Updates regarding late buses typically come from the Office of Transportation.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to our front office @ 410-313-6915 if you have questions about our arrival or dismissal procedures. Thank you for your support and patience. We hope everyone has a great weekend, and we will see you on Monday morning!
