Greetings TSES Families,

We had another wonderful but very busy week at TSES!  As we quickly approach the end of the year, there will be many events for students and families.  Please be sure to continue reading communication from TSES in order to have the most up to date information.  We appreciate your support during all of our end of the year events!

Thank you to our amazing PTA for celebrating the TSES staff last week during staff appreciation.  Our staff were well fed and cared for during the week long celebration. Thank you, PTA!  In addition, many families sent in cards, flowers, and other items to show their gratitude.  We are so appreciative of the ongoing support from our community!

The week’s newsletter includes the following:

Garden Workday Rescheduled

Due to the weather forecast tomorrow, the Garden Workday will NOT be held tomorrow, May 18th.

We have rescheduled the Garden Workday for this Sunday, May 19th starting at 12 noon.  We hope to see you there! Please be advised that we will NOT have access to the building (i.e. bathrooms).

Lockdown Practice Drill

We want to make you aware that we held a practice lockdown drill with students today. This drill is one of the safety measures that all HCPSS schools conduct periodically throughout the year as part of our Emergency Response Plans, and is good practice for students and staff to review safety procedures. A lockdown is a procedure that involves our students and staff remaining in their classroom or assigned area, locking the doors and waiting for further instructions from the leadership team.

We encourage you to ask your child about the drill and let us know if they have any questions or concerns. You can also find detailed information about what occurs during lockdowns, modified lockdowns, and other protective actions taken during emergencies, and the types of situations when each is implemented, at www.hcpss.org/safety/. Additional information can be found on the Family and Community Resources for Speaking with Children About Traumatic Events page.

Our goal each and every day is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and staff at TSES, and we hope these measures have a positive impact on our community as well.

Title I School Based Survey

As you may know, Talbott Springs Elementary School (TSES) is a Schoolwide Title I School.  Parent Involvement is an important part of Title I. TSES and Howard County Public Schools (HCPSS) value your input and partnership in supporting the academic success of your child.

Please take a few minutes to click on the link below and complete this survey regarding school improvement, climate, and family engagement.  This will be used to evaluate our Title I program so that we can better serve you.  Your responses will be kept strictly confidential.  Please complete the online survey by Friday, May 24th.
