Greetings TSES Families,

We are continuing to celebrate our talented students! Congratulations to the following TSES Super Singers: Each week one student in each of our 2nd through 5th grade music classes is selected as the "Super Singer." Students selected demonstrate consistent excellence in the school RISE expectations and/or the music skills that are being taught (singing, playing instruments, creating, and moving are some of the skills). Here are the super singers for the period of 3/3-4/7: Arianna M., Jaqui C., Aaron R., Dulcinea G., Luke D., Zaya F., Jesse U., Tia F., Elias F., Kyi W., Kai S., Nino S.V., Hadley R., Becca B., Jese R.T., Gabriela O.V., Charleigh L., Ryan H., Lucas M., Jaylen P., Kaleb R., Aviela N., Marcus L., Riley A., Saven O., Ryian T., Uriah C.R., Thaddeus K., Lukaz Z.D., Dylan C., Marie-Claire A., Takai H., KJ O., Keren B., Jason M.S., Simon R., London B., Matthew C., Tara B., Lily G., Mikayla H., Nehemiah B., Lesly A.R., Layla N., Isaiah W., Zoie C., and Levi C.

In addition, congratulations to our PreK through 5th grade students whose artwork is featured in the 52nd Annual HCPSS Art Exhibit at the Mall in Columbia! This exciting event highlights the creativity, dedication, and artistic growth of students from across Howard County and we're proud to share that 76 TSES students have their work on display this year!

We invite our families and community members to stop by and celebrate these young artists. The exhibit will be open through April 29, and our school’s display can be found on the lower level, located between Dunkin, Forever 21, and Lolli & Pops.

Please join me in celebrating our young artists!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Spring Break.  We look forward to seeing our students return on Tuesday, April 22!

Chromebooks for Families

Talbott Springs School Families,

As part of a grant from the State of Maryland’s Connected Devices Program, our school is partnering with the Bright Minds Foundation and the Howard County Government to continue to provide qualifying families with one free Chromebook and charger per household. This free new HP Chromebook can be used to connect with schools, access community services, for personal work purposes or for any other reason that benefits your family.

In order to qualify for a free Chromebook and charger, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Your family has not already received a free device from one of these organizations: Community Action Council of Howard County, Howard County Office of Children and Families, or Making Change;
  • You are the parent or legal guardian of a student currently enrolled in HCPSS;
  • You meet one of the income qualifications outlined on the application form; and,
  • The application form is fully completed.

If you qualify for a Chromebook and have completed the Google Form application, you will be notified by Jenny Rothenberger when the device is available for pick up. At that time, an adult family member will need to come to the school to receive the device. When you pick up the device, you will receive information about setting up the device and how to access technical support. These are not HCPSS devices, and will not come loaded with any HCPSS educational applications. HCPSS is not responsible or liable for the operation, loss, or repair of your Chromebook or charger. Families will be responsible for their own internet service. Families will have 5 days to exchange any non-functioning devices.

Please read the instructions and complete the Free Chromebooks for Eligible HCPSS Parents or Guardians Google Form at this link.  If you have any questions, please contact Jenny Rothenberger @ jennifer_rothenberger@hcpss.org or 410-313-6915.

We look forward to partnering with the Bright Minds Foundations, Howard County Government, and you for this incredible opportunity!

Sincerely,

Leslie Harmon and Jenny Rothenberger

Kindergarten Registration

We need your help in spreading the word regarding new Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year!

Registration for incoming kindergarteners and newly enrolled first graders opened on Monday, March 3. As we prepare for our upcoming school year, it is important to have your child registered to ensure we have the correct amount of teachers for our students. Please do not delay! Help us with the process by registering your new kindergartner or first grader as soon as possible.

Children must be 5 years old by 9/1/25 in order to enroll in kindergarten next school year. Every child who is 5 years old by this date must be enrolled in a kindergarten program this fall or have an approved waiver. HCPSS kindergarten is a full day program.

  • Please make certain you are on the screen for 2025-2026 if registering for the next school year.
  • Parents or guardians are to register students at the school serving the address where the child’s parent or guardian resides. Information on neighborhood schools can be found through HCPSS School Locator.
  • Complete your child’s registration online by providing the documents listed below. The registration process will be more efficient if you upload the required documents during online registration. Otherwise, you will be asked to submit the required documents via email as pdfs, or you may contact the office to make arrangements to bring the documents in and we will copy them for you. The following documents are needed for registration and should be submitted during the online registration process:
    • Child’s evidence of birth (i.e. birth certificate, baptismal certificate)
    • An authorized record of immunizations
    • Proof of residency in the form of your entire signed lease/deed including signature pages.
    • Current utility bill with your name and address that has been issued within the last 45 days. (cellular device bills not accepted)
    • Photo ID of parent/guardian

Additional Documents to bring if applicable to your child:

Proof of custody - only if there is information the school must adhere to during school hours (full document including the signature pages)

  • Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for Special Education Services
  • 504 plan
  • Psychological report or related services reports/plans
  • English Language Learner (ELL) plans or previous assessments

These forms should be completed by your child's pediatrician and dentist and emailed to our Health Room prior to the first day of school or as soon as your child has their 5 year check-up

It is recommended that you work on a laptop or desktop to complete registration. Cell phone registration is not recommended. Please call our front office at 410-313-6915 if you have questions and/or need support with the registration process.
