Report Cards

Quarter 1 report cards are now available online!  Here’s How to access your child's report card (screencast).

We want to remind families that last year, updates were made to PreK–2 report cards, and this year, report cards for grades 3–5 reflect these new changes. These shifts are part of HCPSS's implementation of the Standards Based Instruction and Reporting (SBIR) process, in accordance with Policy 8010 – Grading and Reporting: Pre-Kindergarten Through Grade 5

To support families in understanding these updates, the Standards Based Instruction and Reporting Family and Community Resources Canvas course provides essential information, including guides to Understanding Your Child's Report Card for Grades PreK-2 and Grades 3-5. The powerpoints for both primary and intermediate are very helpful for families. Please take time to preview these slide shows. Slideshows for Primary and Intermediate.

Below are a few essential ideas we would like to highlight.

Standards-Based Report Cards

  • You may notice: All grades (Pre-Kin-5) now use standards-based report cards. This means your child's grades reflect their progress toward specific learning goals for their grade level.

  • If you see: "M, P, or L" (primary grades) or "A, B, C, D, or E" (grades 3-5), these indicate your child's progress toward grade-level standards.

    • M (Meeting), A, B: Your child is meeting grade-level expectations.

    • P (Progressing), C: Your child is progressing toward grade-level expectations but may need additional support.

    • L (Limited/No Progress), D, E: Your child is not yet meeting grade-level expectations. This means we need to work together to create a plan to help them succeed.

If you have any questions about your child's report card, please reach out to the homeroom teacher.
