Newsletter for 10/11/24

Greetings TSES Families,

We have had a very exciting week!  Our students, staff, and guest readers enjoyed our Hispanic Read Aloud day on Thursday in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.  Today, the Ravens Caravan stopped by for a surprise Purple Friday pep rally.  The Caravan included the Raven's band, cheerleaders, and Poe.  It was so much fun!  All students received a Raven's poster to take home.  It was a memorable event!

This is a reminder that Unity Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10/16.  Students and staff should wear orange in support of unity and kindness.

Please note the registration window for the flu clinic will close on Wednesday, October 16.  See below for details and register today!

Unity Day

Reminder: Wear Orange on Wednesday 10/16 for our Optional Spirit Day to celebrate Unity Day

Unity Day Optional Kindness Passport Challenge

The Kindness Classroom Passports are a fun and engaging way to encourage young students to perform acts of kindness. Each student will receive a passport from their teacher with prompts and space to log their acts of kindness. Once the passport is complete, they can bring it to any SECU Financial Center to receive a reward (Chick-fil-a $5 gift card). This initiative not only promotes kindness but also introduces children to the value of community and caring for others.

If the students cannot go to a SECU Financial Center with their complete passport, they may turn them into their teachers at school and receive their gift card reward. More details will be shared with students next week.

Message from the Health Room

Dear TSES Community:

Each year, the Howard County Public School System partners with the Maryland Partnership for Prevention to bring flu immunizations into our schools for students.  This year, they will also be offering the latest Covid vaccine if it is available at the time of the clinics.  The clinic at TSES will be held on October 30, 2024 during school hours.  If you would like your child to be vaccinated against the flu and/or Covid at this clinic, please register at this link:  https://www.marylandvax.org/appointment/en/reg/1252974605.  You are not required to provide your child’s insurance information.  If you have any concerns about the covid vaccine, you are advised to speak with your child’s pediatrician. Registration to this clinic will close on October 16th to allow our health room staff time to review and prepare the consents and make sure enough vaccine is ordered.  If you wish to cancel your child’s appointment after then, please call the nurse at your child’s school.  If you have any questions, please call your school’s health room at 410-313-6918.
