Newsletter - 10/6/23

Dear TSES Families,

We had another great week!  This week, we celebrated National Custodian Appreciation Day! We appreciate our amazing custodians who keep our school running smoothly and the environment clean.

Thank you to the more than 80 students and families who met up with the Bookmobile this past week! We hope our students are busy reading their books and enjoying their "fluency phones"! If you were unable to meet the Bookmobile but would like to hear about how you can help your child become a more fluent reader and also receive all the free materials and packets, please contact Mrs. Glassband at allyson_glassband@hcpss.org or call the school at 410-313-6915. She will be sure you get what you need!

Please remember all HCPSS schools are closed for students on Monday, October 9, for a professional learning day for our staff.

In this newsletter you will find:

Wear Orange on Thursday, October 19th to Celebrate Unity Day

Wear Orange on Thursday, October 19th to Celebrate Unity Day

On this optional spirit day, staff and students are invited to wear orange to show their active support for anti-bullying.

Every year  in October, a very special event comes around — the Day of Unity, or Unity Day, as it is commonly called.  This year Unity Day will be celebrated at TSES on October 19th. This is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month, also in October. The key message of this month, and this day, is to unite for kindness, courage, and inclusion, to prevent students from being bullied.  Get ready to help us celebrate!

Young Authors Contest

The Howard County Literacy Association invites students in grades 1-5 to submit their original poems and/or short stories to the annual writing contest called The Young Authors' Contest. Please see the attached Young Authors’ Contest Guidelines for information about the rules and guidelines. All entries must have a completed YAC Cover Sheet sent as a PDF. Submissions may be emailed to Erika_Kennedy@hcpss.org by December 11, 2023. Contact Erika Kennedy with any questions. All Young Authors’ Contest information can be found on the HCLA website. Howard County Literacy Association welcomes parents as members. Visit the HCLA Welcome Page for information about joining.
